Hey There!
I’m so excited you’re here!
My Portfolio Days are something I absolutely love hosting.
You might be asking: "what is a portfolio day?"
Well they are special photography events where I bring together dog photographers and amazing dog owners for an evening of creativity, connection, and adventure. It’s all about capturing dogs in beautiful, natural locations while everyone gets to learn, create, and build their portfolios.
Photographers get the chance to work with different breeds, styles, and lighting and dog owners get to see their pups in front of the camera, having fun and showing off their personality.
Whether you’re here to join as a photographer or submit your dog as a model, keep reading to learn what to expect!
For Photographers
Whether you’re looking to refresh your website, build your portfolio, or connect with fellow photographers, these events offer a unique opportunity to work with a variety of dogs and natural backdrops.
Want to join in on a future portfolio day?
Here’s what to know:
- These events are designed for portfolio building, not client sessions.
- You’ll get the opportunity to photograph a variety of dogs in different natural backdrops.
- Space is limited to keep things comfortable for both dogs and photographers.
- The event is up to 2 hours.
How it works:
- You’ll be placed into small groups of photographers (2–3 per group).
- Each group gets 45-50 minutes with each dog before rotating.
- Within your group, everyone gets the chance to pose and photograph the dog how they’d like. Think of it as running your own mini session with support from others.
- Locations are thoughtfully chosen for light, scenery, and atmosphere and may require up to 2 hours of driving, depending on where you’re based.
Starting January 2026:
There will be a fee per photographer.
This helps cover planning, coordination with dog owners, and location scouting.
About 3–4 months before the event, I’ll reach out with more details and to see if you’re still interested in attending.
For Dog Owners
Have a dog that’s confident, well-trained, and loves adventure?
Your pup could be part of one of my upcoming portfolio day!
What you need to know:
There will be multiple photographers (up to 12) taking photos of your dog, usually about 3–4 photographers at a time and the full shoot lasts up to 2 hours.
These sessions are not paid client sessions, but you’ll receive complimentary digital images from participating photographers as a thank you for letting us photograph your dog.
These sessions are best suited for obedient, calm, and well-trained dogs who won’t get overly excited or distracted by other dogs or photographers.
Requirements:
- Non-reactive: Not aggressive or overly excitable in new environments.
- Dog neutral: Unbothered by other dogs. No excessive interest or reactivity.
- Confident: Comfortable in new settings and around people.
- Responsive to handler: Focuses on you and listens well.
- Great understanding of basic commands: Sit, stay, come. Essential for posing and positioning.
- Comfortable on varied terrain: Okay with being on rocks, logs, or uneven ground.
- Can hold a position for at least 5–10 seconds away from owner.
- Comfortable around cameras and people.
Bonus: Knows a few tricks!
You can find all of my upcoming Portfolio Days listed below. If one’s happening near you, feel free to submit your dog to join in the fun!
PLEASE NOTE:
Chosen models will be contacted directly with all event details 3-4 months before event. If your dog isn’t selected, I’ll keep your application for upcoming portfolio days!
Upcoming Portfolio Days
Exact Dates for Summer Sessions will be chosen by May 2026
Please note that dog participation in Portfolio Days is not first-come, first-served. Dogs are selected through a vetting process based on the creative vision, location, and overall balance of each shoot. While we love seeing your dogs, submitting an inquiry does not guarantee placement on a specific Portfolio Day.
